New Video: Sage Warrior Kriya

I'm very excited to share with you my newest video, Sage Warrior Kriya. My teacher training peer from Breitenbush introduced it to me in March. He received it from Guru Singh. After implementing this kriya in my daily practice for some time I couldn't help but share it with you.
I love this kriya because it is entirely standing up. It is a nice change from my usual seated practice. It is accessible for anyone of any lifestyle or fitness level, yet challenging enough for the more advanced yogi. With that in mind I taught it at the annual Sikh Heritage festival in Toronto and then also at the Ecology Retreat Center for our annual spring retreat.
Enjoy!

On Death

Open your mouth
Let air escape
sound resonate
from your lips

Truth held in the kiss
of the nectar,
as a scepter to hold

Bleed it all out
through each crackle, fragment,
and flat tones of imperfection.

This is your home.
The love, the grief,
the layers of be-ing
housed in earthly time and space.
The Womb now calls you back.

The Mother calls you to heal with joy.
Befriend the exquisite darkness of your pain,
flame in hand.

Understand the deathless and perpetuating
impersonal dance of give and take
in the effortless songs upon songs
woven in the eternal symphony

The last breath flows into the first of another.
The purposeful pause between notes.

Until your last exhale
may your radiance flow with every breath,
and imbue it with every sparkle in the galaxies of your eyes.

Merge with the Will so deeply
that the sensual flow of your essence
knows nothing else.

Know
Unveil
and seduce thyself
to be the lover and the loved
with the One.

The Warrior's Code

www.flickr.com
"Why don't you want to be your own teacher?" the wizard chuckled and asked.
His white beard looked upon me,
The image of a yogi as his mask.

I clung to the hem of his robe with tears down my face. Then I realized this interaction revealed the chase.

The chase for the enemy, that which was me.
Blocking my vision of my soul's purpose to be.

My armor clunked as I stumbled to my feet. My head dropped for a moment with humble defeat.

It all became clear as I fear I misplaced the code.
Perhaps in the woods or when I bid goodbye to my
family's abode.

But here my teacher stood.
He only comes once in awhile.
To knock me into shape and make sure that I smile.

The message downloaded in a flash- the one of the warrior.
The wizard, he was the courier.

The code says be merged with the One and the void will be shown.
But first, we must accept all, the known and unknown.

Take no enemies, even the Trump.
Bewitch them, besiege them, use your wit.
They are all part of the dream, that is the hitch.

Still the mind without force, instead implore grace.
Lean into compassion and strength, looking upon Guru's face.

The truth was unveiled as I was brought up to scale.
The wizard, the sage was to see I would prevail.

I let go of his hem and we walked side by side.
On to battle to bring peace and heal others.
There is no time to hide.

Transform into the swan on the coldest of days.
The time in the morning one is to pray.

Float on the bay with the snow on the shore
While cold mist rises to greet God,
a vision the demons abhor.

Bring peace, strength and elevate all.
The wizard told me once in a dream.
This was his call.

Relax and Expand this Holiday Season

Holidays are fast approaching. Many have a to-do list that seems to be getting longer. This doesn't include the stress that can pile up unexpectedly. For example, my husband and I moved into a new house rental last week. Yesterday our indoor only cat got out and was gone for over 6 hours in the cold. She's not used to the Canadian weather. My internal state of mind and body kept wanting to contract out of fear and anxiety wondering if I would see her again.

I kept getting a message from Yogi Bhajan (the master that brought Kundalini Yoga to the west). I heard relax and expand, relax and expand. Once I relaxed my being I was able to expand my consciousness from being contracted and fearful to being open and clear. When we can see the whole picture, much like the hawk, we are able to make clear decisions and project our thoughts and prayers consciously. Practical tools like Kundalini Yoga help us to relax and expand into this state of mind, even if we have to remind ourselves to do it over and over again throughout the day. This allows us to surrender our worries to the Universe so we can be more present. At the end of the day my husband opened the back door and there was our cat waiting for us.

To help you get through the holidays with more ease and grace I would like to share with you the Kriya to Relax and Release Fear. Sat Dharam Kaur has a great youtube video of her teaching this kriya. You can access it HERE.

PEACE

Prayer is the power.
Even God, Goddesses, God's incarnations, and multitudes of humans have done prayer and meditation on the One Almighty God leaving a legacy of prayer for mankind to follow.

Now, when war is an impossible solution to conflict, let us work for peace and start by praying for peace of mind.

Peace to you, to your family, to your environment, and may Peace bring you prosperity.

Happy New Year and Best Wishes
Yogi Bhajan

Feeling stuck? This quick meditation can help

We all have had that moment in our day(s) where everything is fine, then in a nanosecond suddenly everything seems to suddenly be not fine. An issue comes up, and we can sometimes get caught up in a reactive type state of mind. Maybe it's a long standing issue from the past that is bothering you? Try this quick meditation to let go of the past, allow your nervous system to respond effectively instead of react, ultimately bringing you into a more neutral state of mind. This video was made by my wonderful yoga therapy teacher, Guru Dharam Singh. Enjoy.
